School Resources

Spreading kindness at your school is an amazing goal, and One Kind Act a Day is here to help you build a community of kindness. Check out some resources below. If you use any of them, we would love to hear appreciate feedback on how you used it, what went well, and how we can improve.

Certified School of Kindness Program

Each year One Kind Act a Day partners with a certain number of schools to create and implement tailor-made kindness initiatives. While working together we will address your school’s specific needs and goals while also trying to fold into existing programs and focuses. The materials and programs created in these partnerships are, when possible, used to support any school to support a kindness focus. Additionally, kindness is our currency, so this partnership doesn’t cost your school any money. All we ask is that you work with us to figure out and implement a tailor-made program to help your school and be kind.

If you are interested in becoming a One Kind Act a Day: Certified School of Kindness, please submit this School Application Form to [email protected].

Presentations

Do you want to teach your students a little about being kind? We understand that thinking of and creating a presentation can take away from your valuable time as an education. We are happy to share some presentations that we use in assemblies and classrooms. You can pick up the presentation and notes and just go with it, or use the presentation as a foundation you adapt. Let us know how you used it and send us any feedback to [email protected].

Kindness is a Superpower: In this fun presentation celebrate each student’s empowerment they gain as they are kind.

Book Clubs

As Chris Reddell, a UK Children’s Laureate once said, “Books are engines for empathy. They allow us to see through the eyes of others. By transporting us to other worlds they help us to understand our own.” At One Kind Act a Day we believe in the power of reading and have curated a list of books to teach kindness. You can check out that list here. Below is also a Book Discussion Guide for one of our favorite child/middle level books, Your Pal Fred by Michael Rex. Check back for more book discussion guides in the future.

Kindness School and Family Curriculum

In partnership with one of our schools we are working with educators to create and pilot a small curriculum that teachers share at school and students teach at home. This is in the development stage, but feel free to use or adapt it to your needs. We would love your feedback on what works well and how to improve it. You can access a draft of the curriculum below.

You!!!

The best resource for a good kindness focus is…YOU! Nothing will ever move forward or work we aren’t good examples of kindness to the kids we teach. Creating a focus on kindness doesn’t have to be complicated or difficult. It really just starts with one person who is willing to do one kind act a day.
