Declaration made to launch a grassroots campaign by The Semnani Family Foundation to promote acts of kindness

Gov. Cox Declares Tuesday as “One Kind Act a Day” Day in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — April 12, 2022 — For the day, the Beehive State will be better known as the “Be Kind State,” as declared by Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox on Tuesday.

Governor Cox joined other prominent local leaders in kicking off a new initiative, One Kind Act a Day, established by The Semnani Family Foundation to encourage everyone – here and across the globe – to deliver one act of kindness every day.In a press event at the Gallivan Center, Governor Cox declared that April 12, 2022, would be remembered as “One Kind Act a Day” Day in Utah.

“Kindness can be as simple as a single smile, a thoughtful text message to a friend, or just a small, unexpected gesture, the effects can be powerful,” Governor Cox stated in his declaration.

“One act of kindness can brighten a moment, lift someone’s spirits, and turn a bad day into a good story.”

Governor Cox was joined in the event by The Semnani Family Foundation Founder Khosrow Semnani, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, Zions Bank CEO Scott Anderson, University of Utah professor/psychiatrist Dr. Noel Gardner, and Love Communications President Tom Love.

Elizabeth Radcliffe and Tiffany Hatch, local sisters from Salt Lake City and St. George, who haven been noted for spreading kindness in the community, also gave their thoughts on the power of kind acts in their daily lives at the launch event.

“Kindness is contagious and that’s how it spreads,” Radcliffe stated. “It’s so powerful, it has the ability to shift energy, it has the potential to heal.”

“I look at kindness as a noun, as a verb, as an adjective. It’s who we are, what we do, what we radiate,” Hatch echoed.

Developed from an idea by Semnani, the celebration of kindness in downtown Salt Lake City served as the launch for what will be a global campaign, One Kind Act a Day. To The Semnani Family Foundation, transforming the entire world into a better place can begin with each individual person’s daily act of kindness.

“Now, more than ever, we need more kindness in the world,” said Semnani, an acclaimed engineer and businessman who has since gone on to lead numerous charitable works through his foundation. “If just one person can do one intentional kind thing for someone else each day, that can lead to another act of kindness and another and another. Kindness can be contagious.”

To spread the message, The Semnani Family Foundation has launched ThePowerOfKind.org, a hub for all things kindness, filled with ideas for acts of kindness, news about the One Kind Act a Day campaign, and inspirational content. Billboards, social media campaigns, and a video featuring a collection of Utahns sharing what kindness means to them have also been produced.

“In partnership with The Semnani Family Foundation, local faith and business leaders, educators, and government leaders, the One Kind Act a Day movement can start here in Utah and create an impact that can be felt around the nation and even around the world,” declared Governor Cox.
